Astoria is a small coastal town where the hills meet the Columbia River, and it has a little bit of everything—nice views, history, and a laid-back feel. It’s actually the oldest American town west of the Rockies, and you’ll notice that in the old houses and waterfront areas. You can climb the Astoria Column for a great view, walk along the Riverwalk, spot sea lions by the docks, or check out the Columbia River Maritime Museum. Some people recognize it from The Goonies, but most come for the food, local breweries, and slower pace. It’s a good spot for sunsets, coffee, and just wandering around.
