Job Description

Purpose The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), under the supervision of a physician licensed to practice in Hilliard, Ohio, is primarily responsible for the safety and well-being of patients before, during, and after surgery. The CRNA cares for the patient before, during, and immediately following a GI procedure by administering appropriate anesthesia and monitoring for reactions and complications to ensure patient comfort during GI procedures. General Anesthesia will be required for certain procedures. This skill is preferred but not required. Duties and Responsibilities Administers anesthesia care as stipulated by the Anesthesia Schedule and, when necessary, in emergency and unexpected circumstances. Anesthesia care includes administering anesthetic or sedation during medical procedures using local and intravenous methods. Follows all applicable policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the ambulatory surgical center. Provides preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative anesthesia evaluation and care to patients, as assigned. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the required array of anesthetic techniques and related procedures. Must be able to read and interpret monitor video screens from a distance of at least six (6) feet. Must be able to assimilate new information, arrive at conclusions, and impart or act on these conclusions in a reasonable amount of time; must be able to receive and express complex written and verbal concepts; must keep current with relevant medical advances. Must be able to function in a work area of 6 feet by 6 feet or less. Safely prescribes and administers anesthetic drugs and agents to patients, as necessary. Monitors and measures physiologic variables during anesthesia and recovery. Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and other members of the surgery/healthcare team, as appropriate. Must be able to interact in a collegial and professional manner that allows for teamwork in the operating room and promotes the ability of operating room personnel to act together in the interest of patient care. Completes other duties and assignments as directed.
