Highlights of this opportunity in Central South Dakota: Looking for full-time Locums coverage, will consider minimum 2 weeks/ month.
• 60 bed facility running 3 ORs plus 1 procedure room daily. The hospital has 4 OR’s but runs 3 a day. • The anesthesia staff is an all CRNA group and consists of 6 CRNAs fully staffed. Scheduling: 5 CRNA’s on daily. 3 CRNA’s covering the OR, 1 covers the procedure room and 1 one floats. The staff CRNA’s are currently working post call day upon bringing in a locum, the CRNA’s will go back to post call day off.
Cases: CRNAs do their own spinals, regional anesthesia for ortho cases and labor epidurals. The facility will work with the locum provider on their regional skill set if needed.
Types of cases: Average 400 cases/month (or 20 a day) to include eyes. Gen, Ortho, GYN, ENT, urology, Eyes. Cases really vary. Some day there may be 30 cases on (eyes). Some day 12. 40% of the case mix is general. 40% is Ortho, the other 20% is GYN, ENT, urology, and eyes. Cataracts 2x month. OB: 30-40 deliveries per month. Approximately 3-4 c sections a week (varies). A good % of deliveries do receive labor epidurals. Anesthesia does not have to stay in house when the epidural is running.
This facility prefers as much coverage as possible but willing to be flexible. The hospital is also open to be flexible also prefer he CRNA to be flexible to fill gaps with current staff.
EMR system: Meditech
Call obligations: week night and weekend call optional
Labor epidural skills are required if the provider takes call. Call will average 1:6 week night and every 6th weekend. Call response time is 20 minutes. The locum provider will work post call day as of now.
Daily schedule/ cut times: Cut time is 7:30am daily. CRNA’s arrive at the hospital at 6:30am. Each CRNA sees their first patient of the day at 6:45am followed by the surgeon with first cut times no later than 7:30am.
Daily schedule: 6:30am -3:00pm. ½ hour unpaid lunch break provided.
Locum Reimbursement:
• Weekday compensation is $250.00/hr. with an 8 hour daily minimum.
Any hours worked over 8 hours/day (overtime) will be compensated at $265.00/hr to be rounded to the nearest 15 minute increments.
• $400.00 to carry the beeper M-F evenings.
Call backs will be reimbursed at $265.00/hour with a 2 hour min for each call back.
• Weekend call is $1,800 for 24 hour coverage 0700 on Saturday to 0700 on Monday if covering two 24 hour periods.
• Round trip mileage from your home base to Pierre, SD at 2025/2026 IRS mileage reimbursement rate.
• Flights/car rental
• Hotel provided or the provider may opt for a nightly housing allowance at the same rate the hospital would pay for nightly hotel accommodations.
• Locum CRNA to be SD APRN licensed
• Meals are reimbursed at $30.00 per day scheduled on assignment.
